Winery Nikos Giannakis

Viticulture has a long tradition on Thassos. On this northern Aegean island, a wine law has already been known 2400 years ago. On two ancient marble slabs, found on Thassos island, inscriptions show, which regulations for wine production and wine trade have been valid at that time.

Temperate climate on the island allows wine to ripe, with the help of a lot of sunshine during the year, for an early harvest in late August. Never the less, nowadays you find only few vineyards on Thassos.
